More than 500 affiliated offices of Boston Children's Hospital had their computer systems shut down Feb. 12 after a malware attack, according to CBS Boston.
The affiliated offices are part of the Pediatric Physicians' Organization at Boston Children's. The central hospital was not affected by the malware attack.
"The PPOC IT infrastructure is distinct from the hospital's infrastructure; there was no impact to the Boston Children's Hospital system," said a statement from Boston Children's, according to CBS Boston.
The affiliates are a network of primary care pediatricians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. It is unclear when the computers will be back online.
"As soon as they learned about the incident, the combined PPOC and BCH IT team worked swiftly to quarantine the affected PPOC systems, and secured the unaffected ones to ensure no further impact," a statement from the children's hospital said.
