Since the start of 2022, there have been several cybersecurity incidents at hospitals across the country, affecting operations and endangering patient data. Here are the five most recent incidents as reported by Becker's.
- Knoxville-based East Tennessee Children's Hospital warned patients March 15 that an unspecified information technology security issue has affected the hospital.
- Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health and its hospitals suffered a cyber breach, discovering Feb. 28 that an unauthorized party gained access to information pertaining to patients, providers, employees and contractors.
- Duncan (Okla.) Regional Hospital suffered an incident that exposed the information of about 92,000 patients; the hospital discovered the breach Jan. 20.
- Mariposa, Calif.-based John C. Fremont Hospital found an IT employee's login information listed for $800 on a hacking site in January; it was bought by an unknown individual.
- Jackson (Fla.) County Hospital found Jan. 9 that several systems were rendered inaccessible and were accessed by an unauthorized person who took patient data and Social Security numbers.
