Fargo, N.D.-based Sanford Health is doubling down on retaining experienced nurses, as the health system has started to offer $15,000 signing bonuses to registered nurses with at least two years of experience who also will commit to stay for at least three years, according to a Grand Forks Herald report.
Sanford has experienced growing patient volumes coupled with an acute nursing shortage, which prompted the new incentive program, according to the report. Currently, nurses in North Dakota earn annual salaries ranging from $48,040 to $66,640, depending on experience.
