Exeter Health Resources, parent company of Exeter (N.H.) Hospital, cited it made reductions in executive compensation prior to the layoffs of 110 full-time equivalent positions within its system, according to a Seacoast report.
Exeter is one of 10 hospitals that filed a lawsuit against New Hampshire regarding Medicaid cuts, but last week, the state said the hospitals could handle Medicaid cuts due to their large operating margins and executive salaries, according to the report.
The hospital declined to comment any further about the management compensation figures or the state's response to the lawsuit.
In fiscal year 2010, Exeter President and CEO Kevin Callahan made $740,927, down slightly from his 2009 salary of $747,948. CFO Kevin O'Leary earned $433,850 in 2010, down from $454,174 in 2009.
