Most people do not get the higher pay they ask for when taking a new job — but most people do not even ask, according to Fortune.
The publication reported a survey released by Pew Research Center April 4. According to Pew, 28 percent of women and 32 percent of men asked for higher pay than they were offered last time they were hired for a new job.
Of those who asked for higher pay, 28 percent received it. Men were more likely than women to get their requested compensation, the survey found.
