Former Tennessee Governor on Vanguard's Board Estimated to Receive $270k Per Year

Former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen joined the board of directors for Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanguard Health Systems in October, and it is estimated his annual compensation for serving on the board is approximately $270,000, according to a Tennessean report.

Mr. Bredesen, who founded health insurer HealthAmerica Corp., served as governor of Tennessee until this year.

Three months ago, Vanguard also raised its yearly allowance for directors to an average of $100,000, according to the report.
