Greenville, N.C.-based ECU Health is increasing starting wages for its new employees from $15 an hour to $16 an hour.
Starting wages for the health system's Outer Banks (N.C.) Health employees are also increasing from $17 an hour to $18 an hour.
The wage increases are an effort for ECU Health to remain market competitive and to attract and retain team members across Eastern North Carolina.
"This starting wage increase is a reflection of our deep appreciation for the efforts our team members make to provide excellent care for the communities we serve every single day," Kelly Weatherly, vice president of human resources operations at ECU Health, said in a March 4 news release. "We are excited to continue to implement more initiatives aimed at building and investing in our high-quality workforce."
Pay adjustments will also be included for employees who are currently earning less than the new minimum wage or those with ECU Health experience earning between $16 to $19.99 an hour before the new wages take effect.
