The top 10 executives of Gastonia, N.C.-based CaroMont Health earned more than $5.8 million last year, according to a Gaston Gazette report.
The $5.8 million includes base salaries, bonuses, benefits, healthcare, retirement and deferred pay earned in previous years but invested and paid in 2010. The average pay increase in 2010 was more than $22,000. Maria Long, CaroMont's vice president and general counsel, saw the largest raise in base and bonus pay at $73,435.
Valinda Rutledge, CaroMont's CEO, earned $1.1 million from January through December 2010. A CaroMont official says Ms. Rutledge chose to take less in delayed compensation than her predecessor, Wayne Shovelin, who earned $1.2 million from July 2008 to June 2009.
