Average Physician Relocation Allowance Stays Steady at $10k

An overwhelming amount of physician searches offer a relocation allowance to physicians, and the average relocation allowance is $10,035, according to a survey from Merritt Hawkins.

Physician relocation allowance has remained steady over the past four years. In 2008, the average relocation stipend was $10,427, and last year it was $10,454.

The highest relocation stipend within the survey totaled $40,000, and the lowest was $1,000. Overall, roughly 95 percent of physician searches offer a relocation allowance.
