The Institute of Museum and Library Services, the primary source of federal support for libraries and museums nationwide, will partner with CMS and HHS to assist the government in educating Americans on the new health insurance marketplace.
The organizations will work together to keep libraries aware of community resources for exploring the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its coverage purchase requirement, including the healthcare.gov website and trained community enrollment assistors.
This approach has the potential to be an effective educational tool, as 28 million people are library users, and 37 percent of those 28 million use libraries and librarians to learn about health and wellness topics, according to a recent IMLS study.
