CMS Gives Bonuses to 23 States for Child Health Coverage

CMS has granted bonuses to 23 states that have streamlined enrolling and renewing low-income children into health insurance programs and improved the sustainability of those programs.

The bonuses are part of the 2009 Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act and have been made available for four years to states that simplify and increase enrollment in Medicaid and CHIP for eligible children.

Utah is the only state of the 23 that has not previously received a bonus.
