Pennsylvania hospital seeks additional beds after Tower Health closures

West Chester, Pa.-based Chester County Hospital was unanimously approved by the West Goshen Township Board of Supervisors for a waiver that would allow the hospital to build a modular emergency room in its parking lot, Fox 29 reported Feb. 2.

The hospital is in need of more space after West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health closed its Brandywine and Jennersville hospitals. Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Pa., closed Jan. 31, and Jennersville Hospital in West Grove, Pa., closed Dec. 31, 2021.

Recently, wait times have been as high as nine hours at Chester County Hospital, according to the report.

The modular emergency room would provide 12 additional beds. Both staffing and space have been a challenge for Chester County Hospital, Fox 29 reported.
