American Journal of Cardiology editor steps down after 40 years

William Roberts, MD, is stepping down due to health concerns after 40 years as editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Cardiology due to health concerns, he said in a letter published in the journal.

During his career, Dr. Roberts said he received 92,626 manuscripts, 26,486 of which were accepted and published.

Subhash Banerjee, MD, is acting as interim editor-in-chief. 

"Standing on the shoulders of a giant in medicine, Dr. William C. Roberts, The American Journal of Cardiology has earned its rightful place as one of the leading independent journals on cardiovascular disease for specialists and internists throughout the world," Dr. Banerjee wrote in a letter published in the journal.
