Chicago-based Weiss Memorial Hospital officials are holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the improvements made to the hospital's emergency room to better assist and care for the elderly patients that visit the hospital.
Improvements to the facility include: seamless non-skid flooring and more in-room privacy, new comfort features such as pillows with speakers inside them, dimmer lights and pressure-reducing mattresses and new room equipment like recliners, phones and reading glasses.
The new facility is also equipped with an online ER check-in, providing patients with non-life threatening emergencies the option to check in online and wait at home rather than in the ER waiting room.
The opening ceremony will take place Oct. 26 at 10:30 a.m. in front of the new facility.
