Medical City Lewisville (Texas) is launching a $16 million project in September to expand its neonatal intensive care unit and renovate its labor and delivery unit, Community Impact reported June 27.
The NICU will grow from 16 beds to 21 to help meet demand, according to the report. The labor and delivery unit renovations will include new flooring and wallpaper, installation of large-screen televisions in every patient room and couches that convert to beds.
The hospital is expecting to increase the number of employees in its women's services department by between 10 and 15 percent because of the project, according to the report. The department, which currently has 130 employees, is also planning to add two obstetrician providers.
