RIP Medical Debt looking to erase debt held by Michigan patients

Nonprofit group RIP Medical Debt is aiming to eliminate more than $800 million in medical debt held by Michigan residents, NPR affiliate Michigan Radio reported Jan. 3.

The group will be focusing on canceling debt held by Michigan residents who earn less than four times the federal poverty level or who hold debt that is more than 5 percent of their yearly income.
