PeaceHealth to build behavioral health hospital: 5 things to know

Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth has shared plans to construct a new inpatient behavioral health hospital in Lane County, Ore. in partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health.

Here are five things to know:

1. Timber Springs Behavioral Health Hospital will comprise 96 beds and be located near Springfield, Ore.-based PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, according to an Oct. 14 news release.

2. The hospital will offer behavioral health services for adult, geriatric and adolescents patients, along with intensive outpatient treatments. It will be able to treat patients experiencing behavioral health conditions like bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, and co-occurring alcohol or substance use disorders.

3. Timber Springs will replace the existing 35-bed behavioral health unit at PeaceHealth's University District campus in Eugene, Ore.

4. The health system is still finalizing the cost of the hospital, which is expected to open to patients in 2027.

5. PeaceHealth is a nonprofit health system that comprises around 16,000 employees, a medical group practice with over 1,100 providers and nine medical centers, the release said.
