New York hospital expands NICU

New York City-based Maimonides Children's Hospital, part of Maimonides Health, has expanded its neonatal intensive care unit to support more patient beds and neonatal care and service access, according to a Jan. 5 news release shared with Becker's.

The level 4 NICU and state-designated Regional Perinatal Center is equipped to offer advanced procedures, high-risk deliveries and care, and a 24/7 neonatologist.

The expansion brings 17 additional NICU beds to the children's hospital, making it a total of 48 beds. Each bed features an Angel Eye camera that allows families to see children from wherever they are through an app.

As Brooklyn's largest health system, Maimonides Health has four campuses: Maimonides Medical Center, Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, Maimonides Children's Hospital, and Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department.

The health system has more than 80 community-based practices and outpatient centers, 1,800 physicians, and serves over 300,000 patients annually.
