Columbus, Ohio-based Mount Carmel East will complete its $310 million modernization project, which includes a five-story patient tower, in June, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
The modernization project is part of a $700 million project to expand and revitalize Columbus-based Mount Carmel Health System.
The $310 million project at Mount Carmel East includes a renovated hospital lobby and a five-story patient tower with 128 private patient rooms and a surgical suite equipped with 13 operating rooms. The project will increase the number of critical care beds by 50 percent.
"We tried to build a physical plant to help our doctors and nurses do what they do every day, to help every one of our patients to reach better outcomes," Michael Wilkins, president and COO of Mount Carmel East said about the modernization effort.
