Cleveland-based MetroHealth System is opening two hospitals next week as part of a $25 million renovation, according to The Plain Dealer.
The health system will open a 16-bed hospital in Parma, Ohio, Jan. 3 and a 12-bed hospital in Cleveland Heights Jan. 4. The two locations were formerly Ohio-based HealthSpan urgent care sites and medical offices, which MetroHealth took ownership of in 2015.
Both hospitals will offer inpatient and outpatient care for patients who have less complex conditions and require shorter hospital stays. In total, the two hospitals will employ 60 to 80 people, including nurses and concierges.
The Parma location will have digital door signs positioned outside patient rooms to display EHR information immediately, visitor chairs that fold into beds and electronic blinds. The hospital's beds will have touchscreens, USB and electric outlets and warning lights that speak to patients trying to get out of bed against their physician's advice.
The Cleveland Heights location will not include digital door signs, but will have features similar to the Parma Hospital. The Cleveland Heights site will also add operating rooms in the future, according to MetroHealth staff.
