Rockford, Ill.-based Mercyhealth is set to open a new hospital and physician clinic in Crystal Lake, Ill., about 45 miles northwest of Chicago, according to a June 26 Daily Herald report.
The hospital, to open July 24, will be the first in the city to offer 24-hour emergency care.
The project broke ground in 2021 and had an initial price tag of $105 million, though that is reported to have increased, according to the article.
In addition to costs related to the hospital opening, the system's challenges include rising labor and supply expenses, Fitch Ratings said Feb. 14.
Mercyhealth operates seven hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin.
