Mercy Health-Youngstown (Ohio) and Kindred Rehabilitation Services, part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health, have formed a joint venture to build Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
The facility will be a standalone 60-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Mahoning Valley, Ohio, according to a joint news release from the organizations. All rooms will be private, and there will be multidisciplinary therapy gyms and a therapeutic courtyard.
Kindred will manage the day-to-day operations of the facility.
Construction is slated to begin early next year, and the hospital is expected to open in fall 2024.
"We are excited to partner with Kindred in this specialty hospital that will bring their experience and track record of outstanding acute inpatient rehabilitation care to our patients and the Mahoning Valley," John Luellen, MD, market president of Mercy Health-Lorain and Youngstown, said in the news release. "This hospital will greatly expand Mercy Health’s ability to provide much-needed inpatient rehabilitation care and help us further our mission of bringing good help to those in need."
