Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston is three years into its multiyear, $1.9 billion construction project.
Five things to know:
1. The Phillip and Susan Ragon Building, at more than 1.5 million square feet, will include the Mass General Cancer Center and the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center, The Boston Globe reported Nov. 22.
2. It will be the "flagship building" of Mass General Brigham, Jonathan Kraft, hospital board chair, said at a recent celebration for the building's east tower, the Globe reported.
"It will be the signature building of our system and the signature building of the whole health care community in New England," Mr. Kraft said.
3. The two inpatient towers will include 482 single-bed rooms as well as operating, imaging and exam rooms.
4. Massachusetts General has a net-zero carbon plan for the building's construction and operation, with renewable energy powering most of the facility, according to its website.
5. Phase 1 and 2 of the project are expected to be completed in 2027 and 2030, respectively.
