Ashland, Ky.-based King's Daughters Medical Center will begin construction of its new emergency department Oct. 19, The Herald Dispatch reported.
The new department will be designed to decrease traffic in the lobby and waiting area, with most patients being assessed in a triage area and then moved to a care initiation area instead of returning to the waiting room. The project will also add imaging services adjacent to the emergency department.
It is slated to open in 2024.
