Health systems in Ohio, Arizona, Kansas, South Carolina and Texas are building new hospitals that cost more than $100 million.
Here is how much five health systems are paying to build a new hospital:
- Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health is nearing completion of a new $200 million 60-bed hospital in Mason, Ohio.
- Phoenix Children’s is investing $135 million in a new Glendale, Ariz., campus set to open ahead of schedule.
- Joplin, Mo.-based Freeman Health System is set to build a $168 million 50-bed hospital in Pittsburg, Kan.
- Charleston, S.C.-based Trident Medical Center is looking to build a $277 million hospital on Johns Island, S.C.
- The University of Texas System announced plans to build two new hospitals in Austin, Texas, that would cost an estimated $2.5 billion.
