HCA Florida breaks ground on $11M freestanding ER

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital announced construction on the new $11 million HCA Florida Breakfast Point Emergency in Panama City Beach, Fla., according to a press release shared with Becker's on July 12.

The facility will be a full-service, fully staffed emergency room. It will feature 11 emergency exam rooms, CT scans, general X-rays, and on-site laboratory services, and will be capable of caring for all ages, including pediatrics.

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital CEO Brad Griffin said the new facility expands patient access.

"With the construction of HCA Florida Breakfast Point Emergency, we will be able to expand access to healthcare services by providing state-of-the-art emergency care closer to home for the families and visitors in the fast-growing Panama City Beach area," Mr. Griffin said.

This ER is expected to serve more than 10,000 patients a year and will employ about 30 full-time healthcare professionals, with additional staff hired to support growing needs.
