China rushing to build 1,000-bed hospital in 6 days for coronavirus

Wuhan, a Chinese city and epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, is trying to build a 1,000-bed hospital in just six days to treat victims of the epidemic, according to The Guardian.

The hospital will help alleviate a bed shortage where the outbreak is most severe.

Coronovirus had killed at least 26 people and sickened 870 in China as of Friday morning.

To speed construction and cut costs, the hospital is being built with prefabricated buildings on the outskirts of the city.

The hospital is expected to be built in six days and begin accepting patients Feb. 3.

The strategy is a repeat of how China dealt with the SARS outbreak in 2003.
