Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health has received board approval for a plan to invest more than $110 million to expand Bartow (Fla.) Regional Medical Center.
The plan 18 beds to the hospital, taking it to 90 beds, as well as expand its emergency, catheterization lab and surgical services departments.
"Bartow Regional Medical Center is located in one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation," said Karen Kerr, the hospital's president. "This project aligns perfectly with our mission to improve the health of all we serve. Our team has been working for months to determine how best to care for our community and we’re excited to move forward."
The expansion will:
- Move the ICU to the new second floor and double its size to 12 beds
- Add a 12-bed ICU step down unit to the new second floor
- Add another cath lab/interventional radiology suite
- Add two operating rooms
- Add 11 post anesthesia care unit bays
- Add space for a clinical engineering and sterile processing departments
- Renovate the pharmacy, lab, operating room support, and central plant areas.
The project is set to begin construction by the end of year.
