Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health plans to invest more than $200 million on a multi-phase development in Charlotte. Phase one will provide patients with an additional 280,000 square feet of medical space, according to The Charlotte Observer.
The project, which will be constructed by Pappas Properties, calls for a new development that will begin with two new medical office buildings. The medical office buildings will house several adult specialty centers, including Atrium's Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute and facilities focused on neurology and digestive health. The project also calls for a central parking deck.
"Our ultimate goal is providing the vital access, convenience and quality healthcare our patients and this region deserve," Ken Haynes, COO of Atrium, told The Charlotte Observer.
The project is part of Atrium's ongoing plan to invest $1 billion into various facilities across the region.
The medical office buildings will be part of a larger development project in Midtown Charlotte, which will include a new headquarters for the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association and a hotel.
