The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.
1. Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak to open pediatric emergency center
Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Hospital will open its pediatric emergency center July 16. The new child-friendly center is part of a $120.8 million emergency care expansion and renovation project at the hospital.
2. St. Mary Medical Center to launch expansion, modernization project after nearby hospital closure
Long Beach, Calif.-based St. Mary Medical Center, part of San Francisco-based Dignity Health, will expand its emergency department and build a modern patient tower — a move that comes after another Long Beach hospital closed July 3.
3. Bayhealth to open $314M replacement hospital in February
Dover, Del.-based Bayhealth will open its $314 million, six-story replacement hospital in Milford, Del., to patients in February 2019.
4. Lehigh Valley Health Network plans $111M ED revamp
Pending necessary approval, Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network will embark on a $111 million expansion project that will more than double the capacity of its emergency department at its hospital in Salisbury Township, Pennsylvania.
5. Missouri hospital plans $70M medical office building
Kansas City, Mo.-based Truman Medical Centers will build a $70 million medical office building that houses primary care and women's health services on its downtown campus.
6. Construction resumes at Texas hospital after deadly explosion
Gatesville, Texas-based Coryell Memorial Healthcare System resumed construction on its expansion project after an explosion at the construction site June 27 killed two people and injured 14.
7. HCA helps fill gap in care left by Houston hospital closure
Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division will open a new freestanding emergency room in Houston July 17.

While construction delays pushed back the opening of Ventura, Calif.-based Community Memorial Hospital's $275 million replacement hospital more than three years, the hospital expects the facility to open Aug. 17.
9. Geisinger, St. Luke's to break ground on 80-bed facility July 12
Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network will break ground on an 80-bed acute care hospital in Orwigsburg, Pa., July 12.
