Three HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals have opened a freestanding emergency department in the last month as the health system continues to expand its freestanding ED footprint.
Here are the three freestanding EDs:
1. Sanford-based HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital opened its $15 million HCA Florida Casselberry Emergency freestanding emergency room on March 4, which created 20 full-time positions. The more than 10,000-square-foot facility comprises 11 emergency exam rooms, digital X-ray, ultrasound, laboratory and CT scan services.
2. Hialeah, Fla.-based HCA Florida Palm Lakes Emergency, a $12.6 million freestanding ER run by HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, opened in late February. The nearly 11,000-square-foot facility features 11 exam rooms; an on-site lab; a radiology suite; and specialized rooms for bariatric, pelvic, trauma, behavioral health and isolation cases, according to an HCA Florida Healthcare news release shared with Becker's.
3. Kissimmee-based HCA Florida Osceola Hospital opened its $15.5 million HCA Florida Osceola East Emergency, a freestanding emergency room in St. Cloud, Fla., in late February. The 11,000-square-foot facility comprises 11 emergency exam rooms and is equipped for digital X-ray, CT scan, laboratory services, ultrasound and pediatrics. It has 22 full-time healthcare worker employees.
HCA Florida Healthcare is part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare and comprises more than 650 affiliated care sites, including hospitals, freestanding ERs, urgent care centers and physician practices. It has more than 79,000 employees and 11,000 physicians.
