Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Ky., part of KentuckyOne Health, has announced a $9 million emergency department expansion and renovation.
The expansion will increase the ED's capacity from 28 to 36 beds and will address the hospital's capacity issue. "The Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital emergency department was built for half the current patient volume that it handles each year, which exceeds 48,000," said hospital president Jennifer Nolan in a statement.
The project was funded through $3 million raised specifically for the endeavor and $6 million released from the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's Foundation.
