Feather River Hospital in Paradise, Calif., has opened its new $40 million emergency department after nearly two years of construction, according to a Paradise Post report.
The new ED holds 18 private rooms, a significant increase from the previous ED's seven beds, which was inadequate for patient volume. The extra space eliminates the need for a mobile MRI, as a larger MRI was installed in the new ED.
The hospital has not decided how to use the previous and now vacant ED.
Note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the new ED held 100 beds. We apologize for the error.
