GE is replacing CEO John Flannery, who was appointed in August 2017, with Lawrence Culp, the former CEO of Danaher, according to Fortune.
Here are five things to know about Mr. Culp.
1. Mr. Culp led Danaher, a corporate conglomerate, as CEO and president from 2000 to 2014.
2. He served as lead director of the General Electric board of directors before assuming the CEO role, and will be replaced in that capacity by Thomas Horton.
3. Mr. Culp is a senior lecturer at Boston-based Harvard Business School, where he earned his master's in business administration.
4. He has also been a senior adviser at Bain Capital Private Equity and a member of the T. Rowe Price Group board of directors.
5. Mr. Culp is the first outside candidate to be named CEO of GE in the company's 126-year history, according to Bloomberg.
