The president of the Kentucky Society of Anesthesiologists told a legislative panel the state's requirements for anesthesiologist assistants are too stringent, according to WFPL.
State law requires anesthesiologist assistants to also be certified as primary care physicians' assistants.
President Heidi Koenig, MD, said the requirement is preventing well-trained anesthesiologist assistants from practicing in Kentucky.
