ASA: Proposed Nerve Block LCD "Inconsistent With Best Practices"

The American Society of Anesthesiologists laid out concerns last Friday over the language in a proposed Local Coverage Determination DL33188 on Nerve Blockades from Noridan Healthcare Solutions

A statement from the ASA on their website noted that the LCD had contradictory language as well as content that the ASA believes takes the focus of care away from the patient.

Additionally, the ASA requested a full explanation for the reasoning behind the proposed documentation requirements for the LCD and an example of the correct protocol for completing documentation.
