The journal Anesthesia and Analgesia, an International Anesthesia Research Society publication, has increased its impact factor for the 6th year in a row, according to the 2012 Thompson Reuters ISI Journal Citation Report.
An impact factor is an important way of measuring the reach of technical publications. The score for a given year is calculated by dividing the number of times articles published in the previous two years were referenced during that given year by the number of items that were citable from the publication's previous two years.
After the 2012 Journal Citation Report, Anesthesia and Analgesia remains 6th most impactful of 29 total anesthesia journals. Its impact factor is now a 3.300.
