Truckee Tahoe Medical Group announced last week it joined the National Rural Accountable Care Consortium, a program designed to help rural providers participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program.
The consortium allows healthcare organizations to collaborate in order to meet the minimum requirement of 5,000 beneficiaries to participate in the program.
The Tahoe City, Calif.-based medical group will join a group of rural and critical access hospitals, rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers and independent physician practices across nine states.
As part of the program, the group will employ care coordinators to work with Medicare patients and help them stay healthy and navigate healthcare system.
