Cigna, HealthTexas Expand Accountable Care Initiative

Health insurer Cigna and the Dallas-based HealthTexas Provider Network have expanded their accountable care initiative to 114 more physicians at 35 additional clinics.

HTPN — a large physician group affiliated with Baylor Health Care System in Dallas — launched the collaborative initiative with Cigna in April 2012. At the time of the launch, 91 HTPN physicians at 12 clinics were signed on to participate.

"We're delighted that HTPN expanded its participation. It's a great vote of confidence in Cigna's collaborative accountable care program and also great news for Cigna customers in the Metroplex who now receive care from HTPN doctors or who will choose an HTPN doctor in the future," said LaMonte Thomas, president and general manager for Cigna in north Texas, in a news release.
