Aetna has inked an accountable care agreement with Villanova, Pa.-based Delaware Valley ACO for roughly 70,000 commercial customers in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
DVACO has a year of experience under its belt in the Medicare Shared Savings Program and says it is the largest and most successful ACO in the Philadelphia area.
"This is an exciting development for Aetna and its members in Southeastern Pennsylvania," Laurie Brubaker, president of Aetna's operations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Delaware, said in a statement. "We’ve been building value-based relationships with physicians in Pennsylvania for the past couple of years, and we're delighted to work with DVACO to improve care and the patient experience for our members."
Aetna members who already receive care from DVACO-affiliated physicians will benefit from the agreement, which rewards physicians for enhancing quality, improving patient satisfaction and lowering costs.
