Sibley Memorial Hospital (Washington, D.C.). Sibley Memorial Hospital opened a new patient tower in 2016 with an eye on environmentally friendly construction. The 50,000-square-foot tower houses a LEED gold certified radiation oncology center and two large vegetative roofs. The tower also has five large rain/retention ponds, gardens sustained by runoff water from the retention ponds and cisterns with 40,000 gallon capacity harvest runoff rain water for lawns and plants that otherwise would end up in the sewer system. Sibley supports a Green Team and signed the Sustainable DC Healthcare Sector Sustainability Pledge. Physicians Committee ranked Sibley No. 5 of 50 hospitals in the 2016 Hospital Food Report.
