James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center (Altoona, Pa.). For the third consecutive year, the James Van Zandt VA Medical Center received one of Practice Greenhealth's Top 25 Environmental Excellence Awards in 2016. Also this year, the Altoona VA hospital was selected by the Environmental Protection Agency for a national Federal Green Challenge Award for its electronic recycling efforts. The hospital sent 8.2 tons of end-of-life electronics to be recycled in 2015. Also, the hospital identified and recycled roughly 61 percent of its waste-streams.
