Anne Arundel Medical Center | 50 of the Greenest Hospitals in America 2015

Anne Arundel Medical Center (Annapolis, Md.). Anne Arundel Medical Center was the first hospital in Maryland to be LEED Gold certified. The medical center earned the USGBC designation for its patient tower, which was built using mostly recycled scrap steel and features a highly efficient HVAC system, LED lighting fixtures and low flow fixtures that reduced water usage by 33 percent. Additionally, AAMC diverted 1,185 tons of the 1,280 tons of waste generated during the building's construction for a recycling rate of roughly 92 percent. The hospital also participates in all six HHI Challenges.
