Mark R. Laret. CEO of UCSF Medical Center (San Francisco). Mr. Laret has headed up UCSFMedicalCenter, which includes UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, since April 2000. As the medical center's CEO, he oversaw a major financial turnaround, reversing a $60 million annual loss to become a $70 million annual gain in just five years. Before joining UCSFMedicalCenter, Mr. Laret cut his teeth at other major California hospitals: He was with UCLAMedicalCenter in Los Angeles serving in a variety of leadership positions, and has also spent time at UC Irvine Medical Center. Mr. Laret has a master's degree in political science from the University of Southern California.
