John D. McConnell, MD. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (Winston-Salem, N.C.). Dr. McConnell holds the distinction of being WakeForestBaptistMedicalCenter's first-ever CEO, a role he took on in 2008. A urologist by training, Dr. McConnell held various positions at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, eventually overseeing its hospitals, clinics and physician practice before joining WakeForest. Dr. McConnell earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his urology residency at UT Southwestern.
