In recognition of UTMC's high-quality care, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement selected UTMC as a Project Joints Exemplar Hospital to spread evidence-based best practices to prevent surgical site infections after hip and knee replacement. The American Nurses Credentialing Center designated UTMC as a Magnet hospital for excellence in surgical care, and Blue Cross Blue Shield named it a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement.
