The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano began working on a 150,000-squre-foot expansion in May to complete a 200-seat auditorium and double the number of private outpatient beds, with an expected completion date of May 2018. The hospital will quadruple the cardiac rehab departmentís size. Currently the hospital has more than 100 ongoing research trials and conducts around 1,700 surgeries per year. Surgeons at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano use robotic technology to perform minimally invasive heart and chest surgeries. U.S. News & World Report ranked The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano as No. 18 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery in its 2016-17 rankings. The hospital also earned high-performing designations for heart failure, bypass and aortic valve surgery in its common care ratings from U.S. News & World Report. The Heart Hospital earned a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, holds Magnet accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care.
