Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital
The hospital's 77,000-square-foot cardiovascular center contains eight cardiac-specific operating rooms and six cardiac catheterization labs. Tampa General is the site of the first successful heart transplant in Florida. Today, surgeons at the hospital have completed more than 500 transplants, making its program one of the most active in the country. Tampa General Hospital ranked No. 30 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery in U.S. News & World Report's 2016-17 rankings, marking the hospital's 9th consecutive year on the top 50 list. The Magnet-designated hospital received Chest Pain Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is certified by The Joint Commission for heart failure and ventricular assist devices.
