Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute's physicians offer care for a multitude of cardiovascular conditions. In 2013, the heart program became the first in the state to implant the HeartWare ventricular assist system as a bridge to transplantation, just months after the system received FDA approval. U.S. World & News Report ranked Vanderbilt as the No. 1 hospital in the state, as well as No. 34 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery for 2015-16.The American Nurses Credentialing Center also recognizes Vanderbilt as a Magnet hospital.
