University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (Ann Arbor). The University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers opened the $215 million University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center in 2007. In 2013, the center was named the Frankel Cardiovascular Center in honor of the Samuel and Jean Frankel Foundation. The hospital is a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers as the No. 1 hospital in the state overall and No. 31 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery for 2015-16.
